February 27, 1956 - Learning English from Gramophone Records

 Learning English from Gramophone Records

This afternoon, I went back to Dao Xie Middle School for the sermon.  By the way, the work is done at Mr. Wang’s House.  We talked about learning English from gramophone records.  He showed me the lesson recordings and explained how to use the machine.  I told him I’d been thinking of buying one.  He lent it to me to bring home to try.  At night, I sat alone in my room and began to listen to Lesson One.  Everyone in my family is learning from this course.  There aren’t many new words so it’s not too difficult.  It also feels smooth to study. When John comes back, I’ll discuss with him how to buy this thing.  It’s helpful in learning English.   Regley’s gramophone record English learning program is very good.  I didn’t know the correct pronunciations.  It’s very convenient.  So many people who are learning English have this set of tools.  Now Xie John and I have talked about it.  If Mr. Wang will accept payments, we can make a deal.  I’m going to talk to him tomorrow.
