Last night at the youth meeting, Dr. Mao Ain said that, at 3:00 this afternoon, Billy Graham would be arriving by air. So Mr. Tang Jiangs , Li Yuze and I went to the airport. The road was very poor and I wandered around the airport junction for a long time before I finally found the entrance. I saw a lot of cars coming and going and lots of pedestrians so I didn’t dare just rush in. I saw four people holding the welcome banner in the entrance so we went down that road and finally arrived at the airport. At 3:25 pm the plane landed. The leader of the Hong Kong representatives was the first off the plane. Dr. Graham was the second to get off. When he walked out of the airport and I first saw his face, there seemed tp be a light around him. The photojournalist’s flashes were like lightning. For a moment, there was a dark, black sky then it was all bright. At this time, music started playing. How nice! This was the first time I’ve seen such a grand welcome. Dr. Billy Graham walked through the middle of everyone. Surrounded by people, there wasn’t enough time to shake hands. Speaking in English: “I’m going to wave instead.”. He only waved to everyone but the spirit of popular welcome is deep around him; countless hands in his hand. Thank God!
I took stock of the situation and grabbed a spot in the center of the aisle. He’s coming! I just reached out, shook his hand and said hello. It’s now after 5:00. The welcoming crowd has dispersed.
