A mentally ill woman
On the third floor of the building next door to our auditorium live the families of some Shanghai sailors. One of the wives has been separated from her husband for seven years. As a result of missing her husband, she became mentally ill. Today this woman took sleeping pills and drank a lot of wine in an attempt to commit suicide. This made everyone in the building uneasy. I walked over to see what was happening. Mr. Chaolan and his wife came out to discuss it and we decided to call the police station. At 11:00, a few policemen came and took her away. Two of the other sailor’s wives accompanied her. Plainclothes police officers searched her home for information about her suicide. They took all her letters to examine them.
It’s pathetic to talk about a woman who wants to commit suicide. The problem is a result of ignorance. An unlearned person will do all kinds of things.
