Jan 11, 1956 - The first monthly congregational meeting at Hong Yan Tang Church

Tonight we had our first congregational meeting. There's nothing substantial discussed in this meeting. It seems like any other meeting that is a little pointless. Other than the point that Brother Chou mentioned about spreading the gospel and Brother Huang talked about how believers should read the Bible and pray, there's nothing else that's worth mentioning. The revival of any organization or group does not come from just talking about it. There has to be action. And this action has to come from God or else it's all fake.

After the meeting, pastor Yuen showed us a slide show of last Christmas. Some were pictures of the baptism. Some were from our skit. All these things are good, but a lot of places are not glorifying God but glorifying man. After the meeting, Brother Chen told me that his wife was attacked and stabbed by others and asked me to pray for him. And what he told me was the truth. And the glory of God was actually revealed from this incident because although his wife was hurt by a knife on her head and her hands, the suspect was captured. And yet because of his love for the Lord, he actually loved his enemy and posted bail for the suspect. If it weren't because of the Lord, it would have been very difficult to do this.
