January 2, 1956 - Young Adult Field Trip and First Singing Lessons

Young adult field trip and first singing lessons

Today is foggy. After morning prayer, I went to Tsim Tsa Tsui for an appointment with Professor Tsui Li Jong. When I arrived, it was just 9:30. Professor Tsui opened the door and led me into a room to practice singing. At first we spoke briefly about work at church. Then we started talking about music. He introduced me to a few methodologies for beginners, then he tested my vocal ability. After we wrapped everything up, I left. Not only did he want to teach me how to sing, but he also wanted to teach me to play piano to assist with my singing. Therefore I bought a piano book.

Today is the young adult field trip day to Sha Tian. So I took a train to Sha Tian. When I arrived, it was 12:00. So the young adult fellowship people had not arrived yet. I thought I might as well visit my classmate, Li Wu Gong. So I rented a bicycle to Da Wei Chun. When I returned to Sha Tian for a second time, and waited for half an hour, the young adult fellowship finally showed up. The reason they were late was because they were lost. After we finished our meal, according to our plan, we went to two buddhist temples for a visit. When we got there, we ran into two other young adult groups from Bei Jiao and Lian He Church. By the time we got back, it's 5:20 pm already.

Tonight is the first night of the New Year's Evangelical meeting, and I was the speaker. Because of exhaustion and lack of sleep, I didn't have very good focus when I was speaking. Praise the Lord that it's over.

  1. I think it's strange that Christian groups in Hong Kong in 1956 took field trips to Buddhist temples.
