The Woman Opposite
There is an alley between #368 and #370 so, in the middle of these two buildings, there are windows opposite. John Xie and I live in the middle room on the 3rd floor of #370. Two women live in the middle room on the 3rd floor of #368. Their relationship may be that of mistress and servant. The honest servant has to accompany the young women everyday. In my estimation, the young mistress is probably a dancer because I never see her working. She decorates herself all day long. Today, several other women like her and a man came to play cards. Since they were short one person, they let the servant woman participate. I see her every day living like that. Sometimes it's extremely sad to see her because her life is empty and featureless.
The woman opposite her was only 25 or 26 years old. Although she is young and strong, she does not work hard. When this youth passes away, it will be too late to regret it. How pitiful is a soulless man like this!
