The preciousness of drought
Hong Kong's water is often problematic. Last year, people were committing suicide just because of a lack of water. No-one can predict what will happen this year. This year, for the first time, there was no water on our third floor. The second floor was fine. The lack of water on the fourth and fifth floor was even worse. They need to dig deeper wells.
As the old saying goes, "fish that leave the water will die". Something I don't understand; people and fish will both die if there is no water for a long time. It's only summer. The autumn rainy season is still a long way off. It's getting harder to figure out where the water will come from.
In the evening, I arrived at Mr. Zhang's house at #48. Mrs. Wang was saying that there was no water on their second floor. That makes things more difficult. Thank God! If there's no water on the second floor, it must be salted fish today. Thank the Lord a lot!
