May 4, 1956 - A most pitiful beggar

 A most pitiful beggar

Nong Fong Cafe is the best place in the Marina to entertain a good friend so I go there often.  Just now, I went there with my fellow countryman, Mr. Long, to get something to eat.  When I came out, I met a fierce dog.  Here's how it went.  Nong Fong shop is here and business is very good.  As a result, some refugees stand guard at the gate waiting exclusively for customers to come out of the shop.  There's one in particular that, if you don't give him money, he'll follow and wait for you.  I really hate him!  He knew me too.  I remember when I first moved to the church a year ago.  When I got out of the taxi, he took a package from me and carried it to the third floor.  I gave him two cents.  He thought that was too little and scolded me.  I didn't ask for his help.  He was the one who insisted on coming along.  I gave him two cents.  That's a lot.  I have to say that such a person is really pitiful.  I bet that, in the past, he did not do good things on the Mainland and he hasn't changed.  I daresay that such a person will always sink low.
